How to play Weapons mode
Weapons mode shows the icon of a weapon from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, exactly as it appears in the game's menus. Your job is to name it among the 110 weapons of the playable characters: 26 swords for Gustave and Verso, grouped under a single label, 24 weapons for Lune, 24 for Maelle, 23 for Sciel and 13 for Monoco.
Playing a round
- Look at the weapon hanging in the middle of the page.
- Start typing its name. Suggestions show each weapon's owner (“Weapon of Lune”…) but deliberately show no picture: otherwise you could simply compare thumbnails with today's icon.
- Each guess is added to the list below the input field, with the icon of the weapon you named and a ✓ or ✕ mark.
- Keep going until you find it: there is no limit on guesses.
What each guess tells you
Unlike Classic mode, a guess gives you no coloured clue: it is right or wrong. The information lies elsewhere, in the picture and in the names themselves.
- The silhouette gives the owner away. As a rule, broad straight swords belong to Gustave and Verso, long slender blades to Maelle. Compact, round or symmetrical ornaments, shaped like rosettes or stars, are Lune's. Long shafts with a blade at each end belong to Sciel, and staves with a bell or a lantern hanging from them to Monoco.
- Each owner has an ending. Lune's weapon names all end in -im, Sciel's in -on and Monoco's in -aro, while Maelle's end in -um with a single exception (Barrier Breaker). Gustave and Verso's swords end in -am or -so.
- The root often recalls an enemy or a place. Glaisum brings the Glaise to mind, Gobluson the Goblu, Garganon the Gargant.
An example
Today's icon shows a compact, symmetrical ornament: the typical silhouette of Lune's weapons, which narrows the field from 110 to 24 candidates. You type a few letters while watching for “Weapon of Lune” in the suggestions, then try the names that ring a bell: the enemy the weapon recalls, the place where you picked it up. Once you find it, the victory panel shows its name and owner.
How the weapon of the day is picked
The weapon of the day is the same for everyone and changes at midnight, your device's local time. The draw depends on the day number, counted from the game's release on 24 April 2025, with an offset specific to Weapons mode. Once drawn, a weapon cannot come back within the next seven days. Free mode draws at random as often as you like, and never offers you the weapon of the day.
English and French names
Names come from the game's localisation files. Most are identical in both languages, but 26 weapons have a different English name, sometimes only by an accent: Cadavreso becomes Corpeso, Amphorum becomes Jarum, Brise-barrière becomes Barrier Breaker. Both spellings are accepted whatever the site's language.
Limitations
Only weapons with their own icon in the game appear in this mode. Those that share a generic icon were left out, since they would be impossible to tell apart.

Frequently asked questions
- Why do the suggestions show no picture?
- Because the picture is the puzzle: with thumbnails, you would just have to compare drawings. Only each weapon's name and owner are shown.
- Is the owner shown in the suggestions a clue?
- Yes, on purpose: if you recognise the weapon's style, it lets you sort the suggestions by character.
- Can I type the French name?
- Yes. English and French names are both accepted, and the search ignores accents.
- Why do Gustave and Verso share the same list?
- Because in the game they can equip the same swords: their character data allows the same weapon types. The mode therefore groups them under a single “Gustave / Verso” label.
- How many weapons are there?
- 110: 26 for Gustave and Verso, 24 for Maelle, 24 for Lune, 23 for Sciel and 13 for Monoco.
